Sakinah

I desire not

Love of another
Love of this life
Love for living

Pure, unadulterated Joy
nor
Fleeting Happiness,

Burning Passion
nor
Wealth,

Excitement
nor
Adventure,

Fame
nor
Victory,

Beauty
nor
Adornment

I seek only
as-sakinah
tranquility

the mother of all emotions.

The elusive Treasure

Sakinah
Islam is the religion of peace. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to say and write in his letters to the chiefs of tribes in his time: "Aslim Taslam (Accept Islam and find peace.)"

Islam places great emphasis on inner peace. In the Qur'an, it is called Sakinah (inner calm and tranquility), Tuma'ninah (comfort of the heart, satisfaction and contentment) Sharh As-Sadr (understanding, openness of the chest, restfulness). Believers receive these gifts from Allah Almighty. In the most difficult situations, Allah mentions that He bestowed inner peace on the believers

Tuma'ninah
Regarding the Battle of Badr, Allah says: (Remember) when you sought help of your Lord, and He answered you (saying): "I will help you with a thousand of the angels each behind the other (following one another) in succession. Allah made it only as glad tidings, and that your hearts be at rest therewith. And there is no victory except from Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (8:9-10)

Sharh As-Sadr
Du'a of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him): (Musa, Moses) said: 'O my Lord! Open for me my chest (grant me self-confidence). And ease my task for me. And loose the knot (the defect) from my tongue ( i.e. remove the incorrectness from my speech). That they understand my speech. And appoint for me a helper from my family. Harun (Aaron), my brother. (20:25-30)

Saya, just to share:
Surah Al-Fajr
[27](To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction! [28] "Come back thou to thy Lord, well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him! [29] "Enter thou, then, among My Devotees! [30] "Yea, enter thou My Heaven!"

May each of us find that elusive treasure. Ameen.

One more thing, Saya, am appealing to your kindness for help in a humanitarian cause. Do drop by my blog to find out what and how :)

Great message, Saya! I too initially thought that this post is about your daughter. Tranquility -- the mother of all emotions -- I think all major religions advocate it too. To be free of want, free of consuming passions and desires.

Saya,

,,,"She is a wise women who does not grieve for the things which she has not, but rejoices for those which she has !!".
,,,we can't control the length of our life, but indeed we can control its width, depth and height ??
...remembering this proverb too "pleasures are transient ; honours immortal."

"Of the bounties of your Lord, We bestow freely on all - these as well as those; The bounties of your Lord are not closed (to anyone)." Al Qur'an 17;20 ..Ameen.
