(I found this note from my eldest (then nine) in my handbag as I was clearing it out since it already weighed like a ton, not of money, but rubbish, and lots of precious little notes from my kids I never throw away)

I pray that you never learn the truth about the world.
Your uncle Nadzrin, unfortunately, believes that you have to do good things to good people all the time, and that you do good things to bad people sometimes and punish them sometimes, because they might do worse to other people.
We need more people like you, but more, we need more people who will defend the rights of people like you, because your mother has done a good job of protecting your innonence, even at the cost of her own, dear.
We need both people like you.
