...is no longer what it used to be. It has become another tong sampah of the Orient. If I were in charge, I would have beach patrols who would make the beach BUMS as in "IDIOTS" eat the rubbish they throw on the once pristine beach, especially the diapers strewn about...those I would make the mums who chuck them on the beach eat them, after I wipe their faces in the faeces left by their soon-to-grow-up-to-be-just-like-em baby bums, followed by 1000 hours of sampah collecting community service. We need enforcement and some balls as in teloq to act to save our beaches in the local councils. Sadly, the kind of teloq needed in government to educate and instill fear into our people to forcibly chnage their degil, slum, sewer mentality towards our environment and cleanliness is lacking as much as the grey material in the latter.
We found a spot, not far from where I used to camp with Aween and gang in 1986 though, that was relatively rubbish free and managed to have a good dip before we went on to Kemaman and Teluk Cempedak.
Kemaman...
...there's no where else like Terengganu. Simple, rustic beauty, great food and...dirt poor people. Funny considering its like Dallas. Maybe the JR Ewings of Terengganu have bolot all the oil wealth...leaving nothing for their people who really need them. I wondered, as I passed through this town/state that I love so much, what the sovereign of the state feels and thinks when he passes through. Maybe he is thinking about the next endurance race. I don't really know...but I'm thinking his horses eat more than the villagers of Kuala Kemaman in their dilapidated, patched up like a crazy quilt, once lovely kampung houses by the jetty. And I'm thinking so much can be done with that billion ringgit oil royalty...but I'm just a housewife. What do I know. I'm not thinking masjid Kristal...I'm thinking more quality of life. I'm not much of a businessperson too I guess. Only businesspeople run governments nowdays..or rather people who aim to become businesspeople.
One day, God Willing, I will live out my dream of getting a piece of kampung beach-front real estate in Ganu Kite...and build my Ganu House.
Ganu House...a gem...
Ganu House...a gem...Toilets...
I have never been to so many public toilets of all shapes and conditions in three days on the road...its the age factor...and the fact that children were sucked, vaccumed and forceped out of me. And my belly slashed open too. And there were only two of them.
Any more and I would have to wear adult diapers.
This is the ONE time, I wish I had one of those mindless dicks that piss me off so much (puns intended) I could just whip out and...and...and...pee with...instead of going through the intricacies women have to go through in their toileting.
No mean feat in 'em public toilets full of other people's shit.

Super agree with your comments and complaints! Our town council and relevant authorities have been snoozing on this part of their tasks. Maybe they have given up hope on educating the public to love our Cherating beaches!
Hi Mamasita,
Was really nice to meet you and the other ladies...(boo hoo hoo??? ade orang tu macam balik haji...hehehe)
The only was to educate is to enforce...bila dah malam, when I had dinner at the same place we met...i finally saw that the toilet sebelah tu discharged onto the ground opposite the kitchen...kta org tak makan dah kat sane pas tu...hahaha..pi Kemaman makan!

Salam Bro,
nice blog that one...kenal ke?
wah...the way you explain about the vacummed and forceped part...very scary lah!! YES, those beach bums ought to be hanged from their..ok, no need to elaborate. But then, that's typical Malaysian mentality, rubbish everywhere, not better still throw the whole bag out of the car. And for the toilet...what can i say. when I was at Cambodia..dia punya public toilet anytime better than us. And those public toilet kat UK, one can practically sleep in..so clean and tidy. Our toilet, hold your breath and dont see anything..as long as its not moving you are safe. Dallas of Malaysia...was sure it..but for whom? same tau je lah...ok lah, gua pi ..you know where, I'll think of you when I see the bed :P
hehehe....
another angry post from a docile looking lady!
dot dot dot aka Maryam...I know la you nak pi turtlebay...don't work the bed too much k, that's my honeymoon destination, leave it intact!
God I hate you...that place is lovely...have fun!
VA,
Haha...i actually wrote that without anger...pelik tak? Sound angry ker? that's blogging! hahaha...
Hi there stranger.. i agree with you about the dirty beaches. Was in Langkawi last month and its just the same. At least the hotel staff tried to clear up whats in front of the hotel..meagerly,3 times a week. Its up to the local councils to take pride of their beachfront, unfortunately its easy to blame others 'further up the beach' for dumping rubbish. Quite often, the public tong sampahs are full to the brim, already, what the hell are the councils doing?
Toilets..ah don't get me going...once I had to fight my way into a WC, against...a thousand flies who were pushing against the door! Serious..methinks its an Asian thingy, dirty toilets...apart from Singapore of course..
Nice pics, by the way..
hey Steven.
don't tell me you're back in London?
yeah, we're gonna lose our beaches in 5 years or less at the rate they're turning into dumps...I cannot fathom how people swim happily with rubbish floating beside them....
At least for a man its easier to use the public toilets...for women...where to sit?? Hahaha...
Aween took those pics btw...nice eh?
Yes, am back, to cooler climes..I was sick the last week in KL down with tonsilitis...so didn't really want to meet up anyone..sorry, would have wanted to meet you for roti, but doctor said no spicy food.. Oh! Steven, nice profile pic! Just saw it!
Nice pic? Its just a snap..Its my second profile pic in 10 years..
Where did you take it? Looks from pretty high up..say hi to your sweet Margy...mesti rindu dah 3 bulan! Velly long time apart!
Taken in Langkawi last month. Margy came out to KL for 2 wks in May.
Through Sherry and Ahan, I've found this blog. As I had said at Ahan's blog - was surprised when she mentioned she was going to meet you at Cherating "in a few minutes time".
I hope you are okay(?) Have to go and sleep now - meeting my ex-wife in the morning to talk about money for the children. No, I'm not going to purposely pick fights by holding back money just to spite her... although I can. Taknak lah; better do things like what Shakirah had told me... and be a better person.
Okay, tidur.
