A promise not kept

I promised this man and woman that I would help them get jobs and a proper home for amonth now...I haven't had the chance yet...I feel so bad tonight. They are still sleeping on the sidewalk in Wangsa Melawati. Talked to them twice. They worked before, lost their jobs, lost their homes...she actually ran away from home when she was young (couldn't get along with mak tiri or something)...and now unable to get proper jobs. He collects recyclable items and she cleans the front of the shophouse which is their "home" and get just enough to eat, I guess. I have asked a couple of people for help but haven't been able to get good responses...I will go and see Saari Sungib tomorrow. He was at my kid's tahfiz "graduation" and he said he would be happy to see to these people even if they weren't his "constituents".

Oh ! I have seen this 2 while driving along the MRR2 exit to Wangsa Melawati. Seen her sitting in front of the corner briyani shop and seen him wandering around.

Saari is a great wakil rakyat. Very accessible. Its great what you are trying to do. When i see pics like this, i also wonder what our Pusat Zakat is doing?

Hey Steven...

My mum always tells me to not to smile too wide coz of those huge ugly "fangs" I have...hahaha..i thought I had that controlled...guess not!

Speakin' of which, I haven't visited her for two weeks already now...talk about charity starting at home (but my bro and sis live near her)..still, I couldn't just ignore these people coz I pass by them EVERYDAY doing my errands and taking kids to school.

Riddzy,

We can't wait for Pusat Zakat...maybe they didn't notice these people...we have to go inform them,or at least direct these people in need to where they can get help, meh...

Salam Tehsin,

Great job, sis! And the YB is the right person to see, though he might just not be able to assist directly in this case. But knowing him personally, I believe he will try his best.

And ridzzy, I wholeheartedly agree with you on the q about Pusat Zakat. Perhaps, they are more interested when the poor comes a begging to them as in accumulating wealth, the PZ do not have to spend money searching for the needy. Compare this to Saiyidina Omar Al-Khatab r.a.

Once, at the end of a Hijrah year, he went to the vault and ordered every single penny be taken out and distributed to the needy. Then he sujud (prostrate, does not seem to be the correct word), in fear of Allah s.w.t.

Salam Shah,

Dr Lo lo was the first person i approached...she is ever willing but her people are something else (tak semangat dan ikhlas mcm dia)

Saari is coming personally, but i was upset when he smsed that he was bringing reporters. For what? Politicise or highlight?

I wanted to invite Jed for an unbiased report, but seems he has other plans....i'm pissed.

I hope you will be able to help them. It is not right, that they have to live like this. Surely we are better than this?

It is a good thing that you do.

Bless you, Tehsin.

How about JKM? i know they're hopeless but for that reason we should squeeze every penny from them.
