Mumbai siege...who stands to benefit?
Deccan Mujahideen? Who?
Bruce Reidel, former CIA officer and Pakistan adviser to Obama (and previous three presidents)..."There's another place where I feel creative American diplomacy could be helpful." (refering to India and Pakistan's Kashmir dispute).
Yes. We know all about American creativity. Paving the way for the new Prez-elect?

My thoughts exactly, Tigress. Who indeed?. Who will gain the most?
The "experts" are doing overtime on tv but we still don't know for sure who the perpetrators are. Some say Somali pirates (not my crew) out to avenge their shipmates who were blown out of the water by the Indian navy recently. Others say home-grown terrorists, or Pakistani militants. The most imaginative of them of course put the blame on el-kaidda (as Bush puts it). [Hey, how about putting people who lost money on the stock market on the list?]
The involvement of the Jewish centre raises some questions doesn't it?. That the event has already been labelled as India's 9/11 by the western press shows where they're heading.
We're living in interesting times all right and until the fog clears, I think I'll stick to the advice of someone from the extinct species, and an American to boot (Twain): Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper - and even they can be dodgy at times.
Tuan Tabib,
"Advertisements contain the only truths to be relied on in a newspaper"
Oh, these days advertising standards are definitely a few notches above journalism standards.
I had fun once exchanging friendly e-mails with a CNN correspondent until I blasted Amanpour and Nick Robertson for their "embellished" and ridiculously slanted news coming out of Iraq and Afghanistan at the height of the invasions. I remember clearly one incident breathlessly ( or orgasmically, I should say) reported by Robertson on some terrorist training manuals conveniently left behind as proof in some "Al Qaeda" safe house...wanted to slap him silly, but the TV got between us.
The correspondent wasn't too happy with my words...last I heard, he got busted for drug possession in Central Park...sigh. Poor Richard Quest. Meth. Could explain why he was so chirpy.
They got to have some fun in their empty lives, don't they? Real or imagined.
Ma'am,
...wanted to slap him silly, but the TV got between us.
Haha.
I stopped believing CNN for precisely the same reason - slanted reporting. Their treatment of the use of cluster bombs in Lebanon did it for me.
Yes, Quest did look a bit manic to me the few times I watched him. He had his own show didn't he?. Travel or something?
For more on this post's subject, can I recommend this Canadian joint if you haven't been there already?
PS Tigress, this is your blog, and a rather personal one, I think. So it's your call as to whether to publish these "political" comments of mine. I will understand perfectly if you do not publish any or all. No worries.
Ohhh..nice joint!
My kinda place...hahaha!
Thanks for the link!
Yeah, Decca who man?
The whole thing just looks so staged....
I should look out for this Malaysian Tigress.
Zoo Negara or Taman Negara? I've never been to those zoos but I did go to Night Safari & Mandai Zoo both in Singapore but found the tigress there for display only.
Here, the tigress of brainy species with intelligent, current topic.
I think I watched too many news of Singapore, Indonesia & Astro channel that confused more of my understanding over the incident.
Thanks to A Tabib & you for the issue brought up.
Jed,
Yeah, we can always smell a rat, can't we?
Ummie,
Spinning is the order of the day. And the public just swallows. I wanted to laugh reading an "apology" or "joint statement" condemning the "extremists" on a well-known blog.
If I may, ma'am?
There's been lots of reports about the lone survivor - guy called Ajmal Amir Kazab - allegedly coming from a village called Faridkot.
This is from the Dawn, a Pakistani daily
[quote]
MULTAN/KHANEWAL, Nov 30: As Mumbai struggles to return to normalcy in the wake of terrorist attacks, a Pakistani village named Faridkot is being mentioned in the Indian media as the place of origin of the lone gunman arrested by Indian commandos. He has been identified as Ajmal Amir Kasab.
The media, however, conveniently avoids mentioning that there is also a town with the same name in the Indian state of Punjab...
[unquote]
and this is his picture. Look at his right wrist, read comments and form your own conclusions as to his identity.
Curiouser and curiouser.
As for the petition on the airhead's blog...later ;-)
Isn't it also curious (and strange) that the guy whose image was captured is captured alive?
The "thread" looks more like just one of those decorative bands, but he sure doesn't look like a rabid islamist. I should know...I AM one...hahaha.
Asif is practically begging Manmohan not to strike Pakistan due to the actions of "non-state actors". Who? The US or the so-called extremists/terrorists?
Where does the ISI stand amidst all this? It is an all powerful "state within a state", feared by the weak civilian government.
Who is backing the ISI?
Why give the US more leeway to strike within Pakistan territory?
Is the ISI the main tool of the US?
Tuan Tabib,
You know why all this bugs me?
Because ultimately some poor hapless villagers in Afghanistan and Pakistan's borders pay the price. And no one blinks an eye or cares about the casualties and deaths and sufferings inflicted on these innocents offhandedly regarded as collateral damage.
Ma'am,
We are led to believe that this Ajmal is presently singing like a canary for the benefit his questioners and he's shouting Pakistan, Pakistan. How do we know for sure that that is the case?.
I'm curious to know what calibre weapon killed the Israelis in Nariman House. Do they match the assailants' weapons (our common friend's moniker) or those of the police or both?. I would expect AK47 rounds if they were hostages.
Also, have they found the chartered trawler - the one they took from Karachi? Has Ajmal told them the name of the trawler?
Maybe the fog will lift a little more tomorrow.
I reckon the ISI is feared by the govt all right. The only saving grace is, Asif, like his late wife, is pro-West so his interests coincide with the ISI's at the moment.
I share your feelings about the ordinary Afghan/Pakistani villager. They are paying the price already and sadly they'll continue to do so. It's horrible.
It's going to get worse when Washington steps into the fray and use the Mumbai attack as an excuse to extend the phony war on terror into the Indian subcontinent. Obama has already made the necessary noises.
We'll see.
