Bloggers' Initiative for The People of Gaza

Dear blogging friends.

I fell quite helpless reading the news. There are thousands of people (millions the world over in various conflicts) in Gaza who are facing extreme suffering, fear, hunger and pain. I am sure many of you have donated some way or the other to the various funds for the Palestinians (who comprise of Christians too).

Mercy Malaysia is already in Rafah and preparing to channel aid, assistance and medical personnel here.

We can still give more. There are thousands of bloggers, maybe even up to the 500k figure given in the Utusan, and if each of us gave a little, it would amount to a lot. And we can pass the news on to others, friends, family etc.

We can also start up our own bloggers' permanent initiative and maybe draw up a plan to encourage a regular monthly contribution by people into the fund. The Palestinians' have suffered long and hard even before this, due to the blockades and permanent siege and intermittent bombardment which led to Hamas' retaliation. Many people have forgotten or are ignorant as to the the truth behind the current siege.

So, please give generously to Mercy which has always done/is doing a great job. Give cash so they can purchase as needed and wastage is avoided. They know best what form of aid and equipment or supplies are needed.

And for those interested, maybe we can work out a way to meet up and set up a permanent bloggers' initiative/fund for those in need.
